       KUWAIT CITY, March 9: The Minister of Commerce and Industry and Minister of State for Communication and Information Technology Affairs Mazen Al-Nahedh has affirmed the withdrawal of licenses for eight industrial plots, recording 375 violations and referral of 22 cases to the Public Prosecution, reports Al-Qabas daily. Al-Nahedh asserted that the government is keen on developing the industrial sector to realize the New Kuwait 2035 vision, indicating the Public Authority for Industry (PAI) took all the necessary legal measures against those who violated the law.

       He also confirmed the commitment of the ministry to achieve a quantum leap in the sector by following a clear vision to ensure the maximum industrial benefit for the State and investors. He stressed that PAI continues to work to achieve regulatory or development goals, which contribute to the localization of industries and raise the sector’s contributions in supporting the national economy and increasing its efficiency as a non-oil strategic development sector.

       He also stated that achieving the desired goals and objectives for the advancement of the industrial sector requires the empowerment of serious applicants and industrial business owners who should invest their industrial assets, while the law must be applied on all violators regardless of their status. In another development , the Ministry of Electricity and Water revealed that a power transmission unit exploded during the recent maintenance works at the main substation – Salmiya B (disrupting the operation of the entire station, reports Al-Qabas daily. This led to the loss 22 megawatts of electricity and power outages in some parts of Salmiya. The ministry stated that the accident resulted in the injury of four employees at the Maintenance Department, who were rushed to Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital. It then affirmed that the station is being inspected to determine the cause of the accident. Minister of Electricity and Water Dr Amani Bouqmaz personally looked into the condition of the injured.
