A BODY has been found in a children's park after cops launched an urgent search for a missing man.

       Police made the tragic discovery near a field in Merley, Dorset, just before 6pm yesterday.

       While formal identification of the body has yet to take place, it is believed to be that of Steven Randall, 48.

       Steven was reported missing after he left his home address at around 7.30am on Monday, July 10.

       Cops believed he was travelling in his car, a Ford Puma, when he left.

       His family have been updated and are being supported by officers.

       The death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner has been notified.

       Inspector Sarah Jones, of Dorset Police, said: “Our thoughts are very much with Steven’s family and loved ones at this extremely difficult time and officers are doing all they can to support them.

       “I would like to thank all those involved in the search efforts to locate Steven.”

       Police had previously said that they were "concerned" for Steven after he disappeared.

       Chief Inspector Matt Buller, of Dorset Police, said: “We have concerns for Steven’s welfare and we are conducting various searches as we are keen to locate him and make sure that he is all right.

       “I would urge anyone who has information regarding Steven’s whereabouts, or who comes across the vehicle detailed above, to please contact police immediately.

       “I would also like to make a plea directly to Steven if you see this – please get in touch with us or your family and let us know where you are. We just want to check that you are OK.”
