LOCALS love their picturesque town and have no intention of leaving but they say there are some major problems.
Lockwood, south west of Huddersfield in West Yorkshire, is blessed with a number of good real ale pubs, a great bakery, transport links and scenic views nearby.

Nigel and Carol Fox have lived there for nearly a decade and they both love it.
Carol told The Examiner: “There's a few good pubs - the Shoulder of Mutton and the Star at Folly Hall. It's lovely here and is handy for buses into town."
They don’t even mind living on the busy Lockwood Road which is a main route from Huddersfield towards the Holme Valley and beyond.
"We don't mind it being busy at all," says Nigel. "It's better that way."

The couple are big football fans and use public transport to get to games and even travel to Europe for matches, as neither of them drive.
Relying on public transport though does have its drawbacks with Nigel saying the bus services through Lockwood often “miss” and the railways are prone to strikes.
He said: "The bus stop has a paper timetable which has not been changed in two years. It is out of date. We have complained about it."
While the couple are happy living there, Nigel did raise one grumble about the place – the number of fast food takeaways in the town.

"I don't see why they need that many," he said.
Another resident Fatihul-haq, who has lived there for 15 years, admitted there are problems but wanted to focus on the positive aspects.
He said: "Every place has positive and negative.
"We need to focus on the positive and be thankful for whatever we have."
Fatihul, is concerned about the amount of fly-tipping and litter as well as the state of the local kids’ play area and believes the solution rests with the local community doing things for themselves, rather than tooking to blame others.
Fatihul said he wanted to raise awareness that the litter problem is everyone’s responsibility.
He added: "Sometimes you go into the town centre and you see things and think 'my god - it should be spotless'."
Fatihul, who is a prominent member of Huddersfield Ahmadiyya Muslim community, also pointed out a children’s play area which was overgrown, full of weeds and litter.
He said the area needed somewhere for the kids to play, adding: “We need little parks with a nice environment, where it is safe."
Fatihul said the local councils are strapped for cash and local people must play a role in keeping their communities neat and tidy.
He also said more should be done to tackle crime, especially knife crime, with parents and community leaders providing guidance, and mosques helping out by organising activities for young people.
Despite his concerns, he enjoys living in Lockwood, saying it has a “good community” and the people are “really friendly” and look after one another.
He added that by people from different religious backgrounds integrating they would have a better understanding and respect for one another.

"We work on those common values. If we help each other this place in general will become paradise."
