Apologise for insulting Sultan, Selangor Royal Council tells Sanusi

       SHAH ALAM: The Selangor Royal Council wants caretaker Kedah mentri besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor to apologise for insulting Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

       Five members of the council also lodged reports at the Section 6 police station here on Friday (July 14).

       Representing the five, Datuk Emran Kadir said they lodged the reports to facilitate police opening investigations into Muhammad Sanusi's comments during a Perikatan Nasional ceramah recently.

       Also present were Tan Sri Ambrin Buang, Tan Sri Nik Muhammad Zawawi Salleh, Datuk Mohamad Adzib Mohd Isa and Datuk Kusrin Munawi.

       "During the event Muhammad Sanusi's remarks about the appointment of the Selangor mentri besar made it seem like the Sultan made the wrong choice.

       "We take this as an insult against the Sultan," Emran said.

       He added that they generally were not bothered by the things Muhammad Sanusi said but it was wrong of him to touch on the Royal Institutions of other states.

       "He insulted the Sultan openly during a ceramah so he must also make a public apology for his remarks," he told reporters outside the police station.

       He said the Sultan can appoint whoever he deems fit to be the mentri besar and did so by selecting one from the political party that won the most votes.
