WhatsApp was down in Britain on Wednesday with more than 100,000 outages with sending messages being the most reported problem, according to the monitoring website Downdetector.

Message failure made up 62 percent of the most reported problems with the app itself accounting for 23 percent and receiving messages 15 percent, Downdetector shows.
There were 153,483 outage reports from users in Britain as of 9.37pm on Wednesday.
The cause of the outage isn't known and WhatsApp's parent company, Meta, has not acknowledged the problem.
Users in the United States have also reported problems with the messaging app.
Issue reports for the US surpassed 24,000 with issues including the sending of messages, problems with the app and the website not working.

WhatsApp is just one of Meta's platforms, which include Facebook, Instagram and Threads.
The messaging service has an estimated monthly active user base of 2.7 billion, though it is unclear how many people been affected by the outage.
WhatsApp's Twitter account posted on the platform at 9.44pm: "[W]e’re working quickly to resolve connectivity issues with WhatsApp and we’ll update you here as soon as possible."
It tweeted 15 minutes later: "[A]nd we're back, happy chatting!"
The account did not explain what the cause of the problem was.
