Garden centre workers are blooming lucky after a survey revealed they are the happiest employees in the land.
Tending to flowers and other plants and being surrounded by nature keeps stress levels low and enjoyment high.
Almost 90 percent of garden centre staff felt “amazing or good” at the end of their shift, with only 2 percent suffering from stress, the study found.
Restaurant staff also had a high score with 83% enjoying their roles.
Bars, beauticians and gyms were also named in the UK’s top five happiest workplaces. At the bottom end of the scale, pharmacy workers are most unhappy, with 29 percent saying they were frustrated or stressed.
The next most unhappy were those in construction and call centres, followed by employees in the car, electronics and appliance retail sectors.
Garden centre worker Tamsin Griffiths, who has been at Battersea Flower Station in south London for six years, said: “To be able to play with flowers and plants in a shop environment with customers is heaven for me.
"It’s a lovely environment and I enjoy being outside on my feet all day. Here, you really notice the seasons changing because of the weather and the environment and the different plants that are coming in throughout the year. It’s never the same. Every day is different.”

Lisa McCormack, Tamsin’s employer, added: “When you look at the results of this study, there’s a lot of team collaboration involved in the top workplaces.
“If you think about garden centres, bars and gyms compared to corporate environments, you’re not in competition with anybody, you’re a team.”
The survey by IT firm Deputy analysed 170,000 responses from 35 industries.
