Meghan Markle knew that her marriage to Prince Harry would lead to international fame, royal commentator Jonathan Sacerdoti has claimed.
The royal expert has suggested that the relationship showed an "enormous amount of planning ambition".
Prior to joining the Royal Family in 2018, the 41-year-old was well-known for her role in US television drama, Suits.
The former actress previously claimed that she had done no research before agreeing to go on a blind date with the former royal.
This claim was carried over into the couple's Netflix docuseries, whereby she stated that she did not do an online search of Harry.

Despite this claim, she did note that she had seen his Instagram page - noting that this was the "best barometer" to judge her future husband.
In an interview with Sky News, Mr Sacerdoti said: "She grew up with high ambitions and started to reach them as an actress - putting in the work, obviously not a terribly successful actress in terms of being well known internationally.
"She then married Prince Harry and then she has become probably one of the most known or recognisable names in the world just by marrying somebody."
He added: "I think that shows an enormous amount of planning and ambition.

"I don't mean to be totally unromantic - maybe she did fall in love with Harry, maybe their relationship is also one of partnership and love in that respect."
Despite this, he added" "You don't marry into the Royal Family, I think, without knowing what it's going to do to your reputation and your exposure internationally.
"And then I think they've used that to their advantage, many would say is their right."
Meghan previously claimed, during a BBC interview, that due to growing up in the UK, "you don’t grow up with the same understanding of the Royal Family."

Speaking of Harry, Meghan urged: "I didn’t know much about him, so the only thing that I had asked [our mutual friend] when she said that she wanted to set us up, was, 'Well is he nice?' Cause if he wasn't kind, it just didn’t seem like it would make sense."
Less than two years after their wedding day, the couple announced their plans to step back as senior royals in January 2020.
Within weeks of the announcement, the couple moved to the US with their son Archie.
Meghan and Harry welcomed their second child, Lilibet, in June 2021.
