An inside source close to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has tried to put an end to the rumours swirling around the couple's marriage.

The Duchess of Sussex has reportedly been heading out partying in Los Angeles and enjoying spending time with her friends, while her husband remains at home and does his own thing.

Speculation started to swell after sources claimed to The Sun in May that Prince Harry, 38, has a private room "set aside" in a luxury hotel near his and Meghan's $14.7million Montecito home for when he needs alone time.

A rep for the Duke of Sussex swiftly debunked the rumour, however, telling Page Six: "This is not true."

Yet rumours have persisted, with RadarOnline reporting on Tuesday that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are "taking time apart" to heal and rebuild their marriage.

"They’re trying to figure out what hit them. Harry doesn’t fit in Meghan’s tacky Tinseltown world,” a source told the outlet, adding that the Duke is hoping to "find himself."

But an insider close to the couple roundly rejected these claims. "It’s not true, it’s literally made up," the unnamed insider told Page Six.

Harry and Meghan's marriage may be in rude health but the future of their brand faces uncertainty.

Last month, Harry and Meghan's $ 20 million deal with Spotify came to an abrupt end before their "Archetypes" podcast could see a second season.

This was reportedly due to a lack of good ideas for shows, with Harry understood to have pitched interviews with Donald Trump, Mark Zuckerberg, Vladimir Putin and Pope Francis, leaving executives "puzzled" as to the Duke's thought process.

Sports podcaster Bill Simmons — one of Spotify’s most senior execs — even called the prince and the former actress "f***ing grifters" after the deal broke down.

Amid this upheaval, royal observers reckon a brand rethink is on the cards.

Thankfully, Meghan is well-placed to map out Team Sussex's next move, says Paul Burrell, a close friend of the late Princess Diana.

The former butler even tipped the Duchess of Sussex to enter the political arena.

Speaking to Slingo, Mr Burrell said: "Harry and Meghan could become a power couple. Don't underestimate Meghan, she's ambitious.

"And what if she became Governor of California and lords it over Hollywood? It's not so far-fetched because they have to keep going on, they have to keep reinventing themselves because if they don't, that brand is going to disappear, the Sussex brand will disappear."

Should Meghan opt to try for elected office, she would not be the first actor to seek the governorship of the Golden State, Mr Burrell pointed out, with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ronald Reagan both serving in the role in the past.

The ex-butler's comments follow the announcement that Harry and Meghan's production company, Archewell, is splitting ways with Spotify less than a year after the debut of Meghan's podcast “Archetypes”.

It is unclear why the podcast, hosted by Meghan, is leaving the platform but Spotify and Archewell Audio said in a joint statement that the decision was mutual.
