       King Charles had a very blunt response when asked if he has taken his own toilet seat on a trip.

       Biographer Tom Bower, who penned Rebel King: The Making of a Monarch, claimed previously that Charles had a lorry load of furniture sent ahead of a visit to the north east.

       Among the items said to have been sent were an orthopaedic bed, linen, Kleenex Premium Comfort loo roll and his own toilet seat.

       While Prince of Wales, Charles reportedly travelled with a retinue including a butler, valets, private secretary, typist, chef and bodyguards.

       Asked by the hosts of an Australian radio show in 2018 if the loo seat rumour was true, Charles replied: "My own what? Oh don't believe all that c**p."

       The Hit105 presenters double checked with Queen Camilla, who was the then Duchess of Cornwall, who had joined Charles on a visit Down Under for the opening of the Commonwealth Games.

       The radio hosts asked: "So he doesn't carry his own toilet seat when he travels?" To which Camilla replied: "Don't you believe that!"

       Charles’s then director of communications, Julian Payne, tweeted during the trip: "The Prince and The Duchess’s tour of Australia and Vanuatu begins: 30 engagements, 7 days, 1 Commonwealth Games, 0 personal loo seats."

       Mr Bower told the Daily Mail at the time: "I am delighted to hear Prince Charles has nothing to fear from Australian lavatory seats."

       Charles is expected to carry out a high number of official overseas visits during the start of his reign, according to the Mirror.

       Commonwealth countries including New Zealand, Australia and Caribbean realms are reportedly on the list, though the US is also expected to be another key destination.

       The same publication reports a two-year long blitz of foreign travel will aim to extend "a hand of friendship and support" with the Prince and Princess of Wales also playing an instrumental role.

       King Charles and Queen Camilla visited Germany earlier this year, though a planned trip to France was postponed due to unrest.

       It was Charles's 35th visit to Germany, according to Buckingham Palace.
