Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were said to have called off a party at the last minute after the collapse of their Spotify deal.

Set to be hosted on July 4 for Independence Day, the Duke and Duchess ended up calling off the event to manage the fallout from losing the streaming service.

"They had a huge party planned at their home, which they cancelled just three days out," a source claimed.

They said Meghan was left with "no choice but to cancel" following the fallout.

Speaking to New magazine, the source added Meghan and Harry had "erected gazebos" for the party, but they were taken down when Meghan "instructed the planners to call it off".

The Sussexes' £15million Spotify deal was ended earlier this year after just two projects.

Meghan reportedly received £14million for the first episode of her Spotify podcast series about female stereotypes.

The Duchess' first Spotify series, "Archetypes", investigated "labels that try to hold women back".

Prince Harry has reportedly "isolated himself" from a host of friends and trusted advisers he once was close to in the UK. The former royal, who stepped back from royal life in 2020, is reportedly not in touch with many of his British friends, including his former nanny Tiggy Legge-Bourke.

After losing their deal with Spotify, a source told PageSix that they are under immense financial pressure “to fund their lavish California lifestyle”, which includes staggering security costs and multimillion-pound Montecito mansion.

Harry and Meghan landed a multiyear partnership with Spotify in 2020 to create podcasts and shows that would tell stories through diverse voices and perspectives.

It's unclear why the deal was nixed but tech companies have been cutting costs in a rough economic environment and Spotify has not been immune.

Six months after announcing that it would cut six percent of its global workforce or about 600 jobs, Spotify said that it was trimming another 200 jobs.

The company said at the time that it would be combining podcast networks Parcast and Gimlet into its Spotify Studios operation.

It comes after Harry and Meghan have been hit by false rumours that they are splitting up following a difficult few months for the Sussex brand.

While friends of the couple have told Page Six that reports of them separating are "not true" and "literally made up", commentators noted that Meghan did not join Harry for the promotional tour of his memoir Spare earlier this year.

Speaking to Bazaar.com, a friend close to the couple called the claims they were split or close to splitting “complete garbage”.

And a friend told Page Six: “It’s not true, it’s literally made up.”
