Rhodes fires: ‘We just ran’ say Brit mums as wildfire surrounded their hotel (Image: Getty)
Two mums trapped in Rhodes have described their horror as they fled from the devastating wildfires spreading across the country.
Abi Davies, along with her husband, their friends and the couples' two young sons, were forced to run for their lives when they saw flames approaching their hotel.
The families, along with dozens of others, say they were told to stay put.
But Abi insisted they leave, and the families fled on foot - walking around five miles in 42 degree heat to escape the raging flames yesterday.
She told the Daily Mail the couples and their "petrified" sons received no help apart from kind-hearted locals.

The growing inferno has forced Brits to wade out into the sea and jump on boats as more than 30,000 people are evacuated from the Greek island.
Hundreds of holidaymakers have had to leave their belongings behind in hotels as they flee to other locations.
Holiday firms have been blasted for their perceived lack of help amid the carnage.
Now TUI says it has cancelled all flights to the island until Wednesday, while Jet2 has cancelled five.
Ms Davies, 26, is on Rhodes with her partner Chris James and son Jasper, along with their friends Abbey Firth, Daniel Maguire and their son Finley, having arrived on Tuesday.

Despite having had a flight booked yesterday, the group has still not made it out, as wildfires blocked their route to the airport.
The family were forced to evacuate from the Princess Sun Hotel at around midday on Saturday when the flames reached their resort.
She said: "Within an hour the fire had reached hotel grounds. They just turned on sirens and told us all to run. With young children, luggage and no idea where we were going.
"We then walked five miles in 42 degree heat with no guidance on where to go. Screaming children who are absolutely terrified and crying adults everywhere.
"Locals were stopping and picking us up to drive us away from flames literally metres away from us."

She added there was "thick black smoke and ash raining on us", while her children were "absolutely petrified".
The group then stayed at the Atrium Prestige Hotel with "thousands of people", but Ms Davies claims they have received "no water, no food and no communication from the holiday company".
She later said via social media that two "amazing locals" were taking them to safety at the north of the island, adding: "Will forever be grateful to them, despite everything they’re going through they still want to help us."
Experts say that major heat waves, which have "increased sixfold since the 1980s" according to the WMO, are tied to climate change.
"The warmer the global average temperature, the more intense — and thus longer — heatwaves become," said Karsten Haustein, a climate scientist at Germany’s Climate Service Center.
