Meghan Markle and Prince Harry 'not getting support' as allies 'have fallen away'

Meghan Markle's appeal as a presidential candidate

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's US "honeymoon" has ended as allies and initial admirers slowly move on from the new hit couple in town, according to a royal author.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were tipped to take Hollywood by storm with a series of unprecedented projects, a strategy they cemented with a series of multi-million deals with Spotify and Netflix.

But as their agreement with the music streaming platform came to an end last month, and the ongoing writers' strike threatens their already-struggling production dreams, Prince Harry and Meghan appear to be slowly fading away from people's minds.

After a booming start to 2023, marked by the release of the Duke's memoir and the docuseries Harry & Meghan, the pair have been regrouping but author Christopher Andersen warned they cannot expect the support they had in their early days in Hollywood.

He said: "Trying to carve out this new life for them in Hollywood, I suppose they expected the honeymoon to go on.

"And as time passed, more and more of their allies and friends and admirers have just fallen away because they see this as a kind of narcissistic romp through Montecito.

"They’re not getting the kind of support now that they had when they arrived.”

But he dismissed suggestions that the drama Harry and Meghan have had to deal with since they announced their departure from the Royal Family has somewhat ruined their relationship.

The pair have been dogged by rumors of an impending split but Andersen insisted he "doesn't see any evidence" that their bond is breaking.

He noted the pair are "not just a Hollywood marriage," as they face the additional pressure of their royal connections.

Speaking to US Weekly, the royal author added: "It’s a Hollywood marriage with the whole tensions of royalty thrown in.

"Frankly, people on that level, it’s very hard to imagine how they keep their sanity because [there’s] no privacy, none whatsoever.

"And people are constantly harping about them. The best thing they can do is ignore everything.”

And according to sources familiar with the couple, the Duke has actively tried to ease at least some of the pressure by reaching out to his brother Prince William.

The once-inseparable duo have been on frosty terms since before Harry and Meghan stepped down, with the Duke revealing their relationship had been strained from far earlier on than the public believed.

The insider said: "Harry admitted he'd phoned William to call a truce and told his brother he and Meghan would be open to going back to London, where they would serve King Charles."

Speaking to In Touch, they added: "Harry is starting to wonder if they made the right decision leaving England.

He’s even suggested to Meghan that they return to London and the Royal Family."

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have lived in California with their children for the past three years.

Harry was last back in the UK in June to attend a court hearing while Meghan was last seen with other members of the Royal Family at the late Queen's funeral in September.
