A 28-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with driving without a licence after a Cardiff horror smash that killed three friends.

The tragic crash in St Mellons, Wales, on March 4 claimed the lives of Rafel Jeanne, who was driving at the time, as well as Darcy Ross and Eve Smith.

Eve Smith, 21, was one of three who died in the horror smash in Cardiff in March

Joel Samuel Lia was also charged with driving without insurance on the day of the crash.

But cops have stressed that the offences - which are strictly in relation to driving - are not connected to the fatal collision which happened.

The 28-year-old will appear at Cardiff Magistrates Court on July 26 charged with driving without a licence or insurance in Porthcawl on March 4.

However, South Wales Police have said that the offences involve the same vehicle involved in the fatal crash.

It comes as a 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving while disqualified on the M4 at around 10pm on the evening before the smash.

While the arrest is not in relation to the fatal crash itself, detectives said the same white Volkswagen Tiguan was involved in both incidents.

He was later bailed pending further investigation.

Sophie Russon and Shane Loughlin - who were pals of Rafel, Darcy and Eve - were seriously injured in the smash.

They were rushed to hospital but later discharged.

The wreckage of the car sat by the road for almost two days before it was discovered.

One of the survivors spoke out in memory of her "besties", while her mum slammed police, saying that if they had been quicker some of the passengers may have lived.

Meanwhile, haunting CCTV footage shows the car the group were in just hours earlier.
