Police are searching for the driver of a fatal hit-and-run in Uptown that killed a 69-year-old woman.

       The woman, identified as Sofya Athamanah by the Cook County medical examiner’s office, was in the crosswalk around 10:30 p.m. near 5100 North Broadway when a black sedan struck and killed her, police said.

       The Chicago Fire Department transported her to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

       Police said there was no one in custody and the Major Accident unit is investigating.
