Ukraine: Drone footage captures fighting around Zaporozhye front

Two people were hurt as Russia launched a three-hour drone attack on Odesa and hit infrastructure on the Danube river yesterday.

Ukraine’s air defence systems shot down 22 of the 25 drones Moscow launched in the early hours of yesterday, Kyiv chiefs claimed.

The Danube has become the main route for exporting grain since the collapse of the Black Sea deal with Russia earlier in the summer.

Ukraine has accused Moscow of targeting global food security with a string of attacks on ports after it withdrew from the initiative.

But Russia claims Ukraine is using ports and ships for military purposes. Andriy Yermak, chief of staff for President Volodymyr Zelensky, said: “Russian -terrorists continue to attack port infrastructure in the hope of provoking a food crisis and famine.”

Officials said a fire that resulted from the attack on “civil infrastructure of the Danube” was quickly put out. The Russian army confirmed it hit the port of Reni.

It said: “At night, the Russian army carried out a group drone strike on fuel storage facilities used to -supply military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the port of Reni, in the Odesa region. All designated targets were hit.”

Meanwhile, a man, 43, and his wife, 42, were killed in air strikes on a residential area in the Donetsk region.

Russian forces also targeted Kramatorsk near the frontline with rockets, causing damage to buildings and a cemetery. Photos emerged of one unexploded rocket wedged in a road in Donetsk city yesterday.
