       Queen Camilla has returned to London to take on her first solo engagement of the summer.

       Taking a break from her summer holiday in Scotland, the Queen has made a public appearance during a visit to Ealing to attend the 'Poetry Together' recital and tea party.

       The Queen joined children and care home residents at Fielding Primary School, where she later opened the new library.

       The Poetry Together Initiative was launched by Gyles Brandreth in 2019, which was brought together in partnership with Duke's Education and National Poetry Day.

       During the session, school children and older children - some of whom are care home residents - were brought together to learn the same poem for National Poetry Day, which they then recited.

       Following this, the Queen joined them in sharing a cup of tea and a slice of cake. She also watched recitals and present certificates to those in attendance.

       Camilla also had the opportunity to present the cake - which she brought along after it was baked at Buckingham Palace - before cutting it on stage with two special guests, Alice and The Mad Hatter.

       Introducing the honey and cream sponge cake, Brandreth said that the Queen had brought it with her. "I didn't bake it," she said, to laughter from the audience.

       As well as performances by children and the elderly, the Queen watched a recital by poet Roger McGough. She then attended a tea party in the school, where she met care home residents involved in the scheme.

       Speaking at the event, Brandreth said he had "always loved poetry".

       "I have always loved poetry, since I was a very young boy and began learning poetry as a very young boy," he said. "I am still learning poetry. The poem I'm learning at the moment is quite a short one it's a limerick. There was a young man from Peru. Whose limericks stopped at line two."

       Poetry Together encourages schoolchildren and the elderly to come together and recite poetry. Since its foundation, more than 800 care homes and schools have participated in the initiative. At the end of the visit, the new library was opened by the Queen.

       Camilla has supported the initiative since it first began four years ago, when she was the Duchess of Cornwall.

       In 2019 she wowed attendeed by reciting an extract from the poem 'Matilda' by heart in 2019.

       The Queen is a keen advocate for the importance of reading, as well as the joys it can bring.

       Her Majesty is also keen on focusing on the older generation, encouraging them to be active and to help tackle feelings of isolation that people in the older bracket can face.

       Following her first visit, the Queen then went to unveil a portrait of SOE Operative, Noor-un-Nisa Inayat Khan GC, and formally announce the name of a room in her honour at Royal Air Force Club in Piccadilly.

       Camilla was introduced to Shaik Mamood, Noor-un-Nisa Inayat Khan’s cousin before being invited to unveil a new portrait of the Special Operations Executive (SOE).

       On the visit, the Queen unveiled a plaque, officially naming the room the ‘The Noor Khan Room’.
