       A British girl was allegedly raped 10 times in Gibraltar.

       According to local media, the girl was allegedly attacked by a Spanish care worker who has been charged by police.

       Royal Gibraltar Police said Pedro Luice Garcia Vallehjo, 25 had been arrested and had an initial court on Thursday, August 30.

       Mr Vallejo was remanded in custody and is due to return to court on Friday, September 1.

       Police said Mr Vallejo has been charged with “one count of sexual activity with a child: abuse of a position of trust and 10 counts of rape against an underage female”.

       The Gibraltar Broadcasting Corporation reported that Mr Vallejo worked at a children’s residential care home.

       Local police did not identify the young girl involved, but media reports said she was British.

       In a statement, they said: “A Spanish man appeared in the Magistrates’ Court this morning, charged with one count of Sexual Activity with a Child: Abuse of Position of Trust and 10 counts of Rape against an underage female."

       They added: "Pedro Luis Garcia Vallejo, 25, of La Linea, was remanded by the courts and will return to court tomorrow morning.”

       The arrest of the man comes just days after several alleged sexual assaults on Britons in the area.

       Last month an 18-year-old British woman was allegedly raped by six people she met at a party in Majorca.

       MailOnline reported that the assault, allegedly involving five French men and one Swiss tourist, happened on August 14.

       According to reports, a security guard found the young woman crying on the floor of the hotel’s lobby.
