The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has alerted dog owners to a series of toxic items that your dog might attempt to chew on.
Notably, this includes anti-freeze - a liquid used as a car engine coolant that most people would keep somewhere in their cars.
Just like you wouldn't want it anywhere near children, it should be kept nowhere near your pets as the effects can be even more devastating.
Anti-freeze is made of ethylene glycol and once it gets in the body and starts to be broken down, it releases substances that can affect your pooch's blood chemistry, nervous system and kidneys and brain.

It can take only a very small amount of anti-freeze for the animal to be poisoned.
If your pet managed to drink some, the FDA says you should act quickly and immediately call the vet.
To avoid it, your car may require "pet-proofing", which would include all harmful liquids being kept faraway from any prying paws.
It comes as dog owners were also warned of the deadly risk of puddles.
