JOHOR BARU: Some 34% out of 927 police officers and personnel have cast their votes in the Pulai parliamentary by-election, says the Election Commission (EC).

In a statement, the EC said that, as of 10am, the percentage of early voting for the Pulai by-election stood at 34%.

Two early voting centres for the Pulai parliamentary by-election have been opened at the Kempas police station in Kempas and the Marine Police Region II headquarters in Tampoi on Tuesday (Sept 5).

Based on data from the EC, a total of 46 people will cast their ballots at the early voting centre at the Kempas police station operations room while 881 will do so at the marine police region II headquarters.

The early voting centre at the Kempas police station will be open until noon, while the one at Wilayah Dua PPM will be closed at 5pm.

Pulai is one of two by-elections called in Johor following the death of Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, who was also the domestic trade and cost of living minister, on July 23, the other being for the Simpang Jeram state seat.

However, there will be no early voting for Simpang Jeram.
