Pilots decided to abort take-off Friday evening after a Swiss Airlines flight ran into a flock off birds during its takeoff at O’Hare International Airport, an airline spokesman said.
The Boeing 777-300ER was on its way to Zurich, Switzerland, but during its takeoff the aircraft encountered a flock of birds, and as a precautionary measure the pilots halted the flight, a spokesman said.
The brakes heated up in the process and the airport fire brigade was called in to help cool them down. Officials said there was no fire.
The flights was towed to the gate and the airline arranged accommodations for the passengers, the spokesman said.
