       Officials in Ukraine fear desperate Putin is plotting a barrage of missile strikes in the bitter war within weeks.

       Nataliya Humeniuk, the head of the Joint Coordination Press Centre of the Defence Forces of Southern Ukraine issued the stark warninga as she warned of threats from Russia.

       Her statement while analysing movements of Russian naval forces in the Black Sea who appear to be poised for autumn and winter missile attacks.

       "It is quite likely that the enemy will save missiles for a certain period of time in order to prepare for other more powerful and massive actions," she said.

       The potential for missile strikes is concerning during the bitterly cold autumn and winter months.

       Recent military activity in the Black Sea from Russian troops has fuelled the speculation and fears within Ukraine.

       Russia has 12 ships operating in the Black Sea, which have recently returned to their bases in storms.

       The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine determined the missile danger in the sea as high, as Russian missile carriers seem ready for use.

       Tensions in the region have mounted after Ukrainian forces hit back and destroyed six Russian boats in Kherson.
