KUWAIT CITY, Sept 9: Commencing tomorrow, Sunday, September 10, 2023, the Ministry of Interior will begin implementing the decision to settle outstanding debts owed to the state by expats before allowing them to renew their residency permits.

In accordance with directives issued by the Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Talal Khalid Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, to enhance the coordination between the General Administration of Residence Affairs and the General Administration of Information Systems for the purpose of recovering debts owed by foreign individuals to the state, a significant development is set to take effect.

The proactive step is in line with the government’s commitment to ensuring financial responsibility among expats in Kuwait. To facilitate the settlement process, expats seeking to renew their residency permits are required to clear their outstanding debts through the official websites of relevant government agencies or by utilizing “Sahel” application.

The Ministry of Interior emphasizes the importance of compliance with established legal provisions and urges individuals not to violate these regulations. It underlines its unwavering commitment to upholding security and maintaining public order within the nation.

This initiative reflects the government’s dedication to responsible financial practices and contributes to the overall stability and security of the country.
