       A primary school was put on "lockdown" after a man was mauled by two dogs during a home-time from hell.

       The attack reportedly took place in a rural village as children as young as four were leaving a nearby primary school. Some pupils in Stonall, Staffordshire, were reportedly told not to exit by police in order to stay safe.

       And residents took to social media to report a heavy police presence in the Main Street area, reports The Mirror. Officers now say they have made an arrest, although they are continuing to investigate.

       A man was taken to hospital, where is he is recovering from his injuries. It is the latest in a string of dog attacks, including one where an 11-year-old girl was mauled in nearby Birmingham.

       A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "A number of people helped to try and get the dogs off the man and contained one of the dogs outside. The other was contained within the owner’s flat.

       "We prevented a number of school children leaving local primary school, St Peter’s Primary Academy, for safety reasons. The children have since been allowed to go home.

       "A 30-year-old man, from the Lichfield area, has been arrested on suspicion of having dogs dangerously out of control. An investigation is ongoing including the determination of the dogs’ breed." Anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident 405 of September 14."
