Falklands War: Weather threatened UK forces reveals Fox
A presidential candidate in Argentina's elections, Javier Milei, is demanding an agreement with the UK to resolve the long-standing dispute over the Falkland Islands.
He claimed: "The Malvinas Islands are Argentine. Sovereignty cannot be relinquished. It is true that there was a war in which we lost.
"Now we are proposing a solution so that the islands return to Argentina and reach an agreement with England as China did with Hong Kong," he said in an interview with Radio Continental.
It is a departure from the traditional national position, which has claimed sovereignty over the Falklands without compromise.

He argued in reaching an agreement with the UK it would prevent any escalation of military action.
The Foreign Ministry's Secretary for Malvinas Islands Affairs, Guillermo Carmona, slammed the proposal and accused Milei of "de-Malvinasing" ideas that "violate the Constitution and international law".
Mr Milei stressed his party does not want a military solution and acknowledged the views of the British residents who live on the Falklands.

The Malvinas Argentinas Observatory of Río Negro expressed its rejection of Mondino's position, accusing her of ignorance regarding Argentine rights over the Malvinas Islands.
The Observatory criticised her stance for potentially endorsing the colonialist strategies of the United Kingdom and undermining Argentine sovereignty.
For Malvinas veterans, Mondino's and Milei's ideals represent a policy that surrenders Argentine sovereignty and jeopardises national interests.
