Prince William visits the FDNY in New York City
Prince William is not as "naturally confident" as his wife Princess Kate and seemed to display some "manner of nerves" while on a visit without her, according to a body language expert.
The Prince of Wales has been in New York this week to announce the finalists of his 2023 Earthshot Prize, with the prizegiving ceremony to be held in Singapore in November.
During his time Stateside William packed in a number of engagements, including meeting with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and visiting the New York Fire Department (FDNY).
Speaking on behalf of Betfair Bingo Darren Stanton said of William's gestures while on his trip: "While Kate is naturally quite confident during both solo and joint engagements, William appears more sure of himself when in the company of his wife.
"While he still holds himself in a way that would be perceived as a confident manner to the public, gestures like placing his hands in his pockets and his smile not seeming as engaged would signal that he is feeling some manner of nerves during his solo trip."

He added: "Kate is William’s rock and we often see him letting her take the lead during their joint engagements, with the royal happy to watch on proudly as she takes charge during interactions.
"Out solo, William takes a more reserved approach and isn’t as animated as he can be when joined by Kate. The use of minimal gestures during his first outing in New York is similar to those made by the late Queen when appearing publicly. He chooses to have more of an understated yet stoic presence."
One firefighter even asked William why his wife had not joined him in NYC, although he "didn't answer".
It is not expected that Kate will join her husband in Singapore later this year when the Earthshot winners are announced.

Meanwhile back in the UK Kate seemed right at home as she visited a Royal Navy air base in Somerset on Monday, flying in onboard a royal helicopter.
However Mr Stanton noted that although some of the personnel directed some "flirtatious signals" in her direction, she maintained her loyalty to her absent husband.
He said: "Kate tried on the lifejacket, and she looked like she was really enjoying herself. She was showing lots of genuine laughter, and they seemed to be loving spending time with her. Some of the guys gave a few flirtatious signals here and there.
"Kate didn't respond - she was polite and friendly but respectful of William. We saw her really letting go. She looked relaxed as her shoulders were down, and had lots of natural interaction with the staff."
