Express forecast
Today: Increasing clouds and wind. Shower? Highs: 70-75. Tonight: Increasing rain and wind chances. Heavy late. 57-62. Tomorrow: Wind-swept rain. Highs: 60-65. Sunday: Periodic rain, showers, breezes. Highs: 63-68.
Forecast in detail
We slow-build clouds and wind today ahead of this weekend’s gusty storm system that targets Saturday in particular. Downpours may be accompanied by winds gusty enough tomorrow and tomorrow night to cause some downed trees and power outages. A few areas of flooding could also develop. Sunday may feature some dry moments, but Monday offers a better chance for outdoor time.

Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow (Saturday): Welcome as the rain is, it will be swept by wind and come with some problems. Winds may be sustained near 30 mph with gusts perhaps around 45 mph. East of town may be worse, especially near the Chesapeake Bay where winds to 50 to 55 mph or so are possible. Our periodically heavy rain also accumulates to a point that flood concerns may develop. High temperatures aim for the low to mid-60s. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow night: Rain may continue until closer to dawn. Gusts try to ease toward dawn, perhaps 30 mph instead of 40. Low temperatures are in the upper 50s to low 60s. Confidence: Medium
Sunday: Winds — along with waves of rain, drizzle and showers — are expected to decrease as the day wears on, but mostly cloudy skies persist. High temperatures most likely top out in the mid-60s, but persistent peeks of sunshine could create some spots of upper 60s. Breezes, now out of the northwest, slowly stop gusting near 30 mph — perhaps closer to 20 mph by sunset. Confidence: Medium
A look ahead
Sunday night: Mostly cloudy. Continued slight shower chances. Breezes should calm down significantly. Low temperatures bottom out in the mid-50s to around 60. Confidence: Medium
Partly to mostly cloudy skies could continue Monday and Tuesday, with very slight chances for showers. High temperatures should still be able to reach the upper 60s to low 70s. If we clear out more than expected, with fuller sunshine, mid-70s are on the table. Confidence: Low-Medium
