KUWAIT CITY, Sept 27: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has made an announcement about the initiation of central online registration for the 2024 Hajj season, reports Al-Rai daily.

This registration period commences on Sunday, October 1, and extends until November 10, accessible through the Endowments Portal application.

Salman Murad Al-Kandari, the spokesperson for the ministry, said in a press release that registration will conclude after the mentioned timeframe, enabling the organization to sort and select applicants based on specific criteria.

Following this, an exhibition will be organized featuring approved Hajj campaigns sanctioned by the ministry. Al-Kandari emphasized that prospective pilgrims can select a campaign that aligns with their requirements and preferences, determining the appropriate method of fee payment after an initial 25% payment to secure registration in the campaign.

The electronic registration system is designed to achieve several objectives, such as fostering a sense of competition among campaigns to offer optimal services to pilgrims, granting pilgrims the liberty to select a suitable Hajj program, and enabling individuals who have not undertaken Hajj previously to participate.

He outlined that registration is targeted towards citizens in a group of no more than five relatives (e.g., grandparents, parents, siblings, children, spouses) or citizens with one resident companion (e.g., wife, mother, husband, son, daughter).

He clarified, “Registration will be restricted for those who have previously performed the Hajj pilgrimage, except for three categories — elderly companions (over 70 years of age) individuals with severe mobility disabilities, and female mahrams who have not previously performed Hajj.” Additionally, individuals with unspecified nationality can register pending approval from the authorities in KSA.

Al-Kandari highlighted a specific policy regarding reservation cancellations, stating, “Pilgrims can obtain a full refund if the cancellation is before January 31, 2024. However, if the cancellation occurs after this date, the entire amount will be deducted from the pilgrim.”

He emphasized the ministry’s dedication, in alignment with directives from the Minister of Information and Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Abdul Rahman Al-Mutairi, and under the oversight of Undersecretary Dr. Badr Al-Mutairi, to streamline the journey to the Holy House of God pilgrims, address their needs, and create an optimal environment for them to perform Hajj rituals comfortably. Modern technology is being leveraged in accordance with the Council of Ministers’ guidelines towards government service digitization.
