RAWALPINDI: Like other parts of the country, fuel supply in twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad remained suspended after the Oil Tankers Contractors Association (OTCA) went on strike.

According to the association’s spokesman, Noman Ali Butt, oil tankers stopped the supply on Monday morning.

The body is demanding that it should be given quota from the white petroleum pipeline and fares should be increased.

“We are businessmen, and we pay taxes to the government. We remained silent for five years in the interest of the country,” he said, adding that, “we also presented our issues to the authorities concerned. We are peaceful people and have nothing to do with protests”.

He said negotiations were being held in Karachi and if the issue was not solved then there would be shortage of petrol and diesel in the coming days. He said petrol filling stations had petrol for the next two to three days and if the strike continued, there would be fuel shortage in the coming days.
