About 50 juveniles, far from the 300 D.C. police initially reported, were dispersed during a disturbance Friday night at a Wawa convenience store in Northwest Washington’s Tenleytown neighborhood, according to a revised police report filed Monday.

Paris Lewbel, a police spokesman, said it appears that fewer than 10 people were involved in the actual fight, which occurred at the store in the 4500 block of 40th Street NW, near a shopping complex and Metro station. Police said no arrests have been made.
Lewbel said the initial crowd estimate of 300, referenced in a police report made public over the weekend, was preliminary. He said detectives investigating the incident have since determined that the crowd was far smaller than first reported. He said police have conducted interviews and reviewed surveillance video.

Authorities said fights started shortly before 8 p.m. and occurred inside and outside the Wawa. The Washington Post reported earlier that a video showed part of the incident, with two teens seen attacking each other on the sidewalk, then being joined by others who grabbed or hit one another.
Police said no injuries were reported and did not address why the initial crowd estimate was much larger than the revised count.
