He is the 224th person to be slain so far this year, according to the latest police data, which is more than the total number of homicides in all of last year. This year, for the first time since 1997, D.C. surpassed 200 killings before October.
Also this week, police found one man fatally shot inside a vehicle in Southeast and another killed inside a vehicle in Northeast; they found one man bludgeoned to death in an alley in Northwest, and another fatally shot in a parking lot of a Northeast shopping complex.
On Wednesday, police identified the man found shot inside a vehicle in the 4100 block of East Capitol Street SE as 24-year-old Raequan Williamson, of Southeast. His relative, reached by phone, declined to comment.
The rash of violence follows a quieter stretch in early October. Five people were killed in the first two weeks of the month, well below the city’s homicide rate so far this year.
