Police identify man killed earlier this month in Northwest D.C.

       Police on Wednesday identified a man found dead last week in an alley in Northwest Washington and said he was a victim of homicide.

       The body of Reggie Brown, 64, of Northwest, was discovered shortly before 1 a.m. on Oct. 17 in the 6200 block of Georgia Avenue NW. Authorities said he died of blunt force trauma.

       So far this year, 225 people have been slain in the District, a 33 percent increase from the same period last year. The city’s homicide toll surpassed 200 before October this year for the first time in a quarter century.
