PETALING JAYA: All security threats aimed at schools and other educational institutions must be reported to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Education Ministry immediately.

The ministry said these institutions also need to comply with instructions issued by the authorities.

“All educational institutions (under the ministry) are requested to comply with the security procedures that have been set,” it said in a statement on Wednesday (Nov 22).

It said its close collaboration with PDRM helps ensure the safety of all educational institutions.

This comes as a number of international schools nationwide received bomb threats on Tuesday (Nov 21), with further incidents reported on Wednesday.

“The ministry takes this issue seriously and always prioritises the safety of teachers, students and all citizens in educational institutions under its purview,” the ministry added.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the incident is being investigated.

However, upon being contacted, Comm Hussein said that the authorities believed that the threat might be a hoax.
