Boris Johnson has piled the pressure on chancellor Jeremy Hunt urging him to make tax cuts which he believes will give young people a "helping hand".
The former prime minister has told the chancellor to slash inheritance tax when he rises next week to give his autumn statement, saying it would "encourage growth and investment".
In a column for MailOnline, Johnson said he also wanted to see taxes on "income, effort and enterprise" cut while adding that he believed it would be "smart" to cut corporation tax.
He said: "Cutting inheritance tax will at least do something to address an increasing unfairness. I think I technically belong to the last cohort of baby boomers, in that I was born in 1964.

He added: "We baby boomers had the full-fat pensions; we had the free -university; we had the cheap housing.
The former PM argued that those benefits would enable Brits to become very wealthy, adding: "And in the name of intergenerational fairness, it is right that more of that wealth should now be passed on to our descendants."
It comes after Hunt told the Express he was considering cutting inheritance tax in next week's statement.

“Because in the end what we need to do is to improve the long-term capacity of the British economy to generate the wealth we need to pay for the NHS. So that will always be the priority.”
