Winds gusting around 40 to 45 mph much of the day helped negate the seasonable warmth of highs in the 50s. Those winds have been blowing in cooler and drier air late today. It’s a process that will continue tonight and last through Tuesday. There could even be a few late-night snowflakes locally and quite a bit more to the west.

Through tonight: Mainly clear skies of the evening will turn cloudier overnight as an atmospheric disturbance nears. It could kick off a shower or snow shower late at night. It’s just conversational, if it does. Upper 20s to low 30s should do it for lows in most spots. Winds will continue to blow around 15 mph through the night, gusting near 30 mph, which will make it feel about 5 to 10 degrees colder than it is.

Tomorrow (Tuesday): Early risers may see a snow shower. We should get a good deal of sun through the day. Otherwise, it’ll be feeling a bit like midwinter. Highs will end up mainly in the upper 30s to near or just above 40. Winds will blow from the northwest around 20 mph with gusts near 40 mph possible early, diminishing with time.

Snow: It’s been a snowy start to winter in the high elevations to the west, even if it’s not sticking around for long afterward. Behind the big nor’easter that dumped lots of rain on the East Coast, snow is expected through Tuesday in the Alleghenies and surrounding spots. As much as a foot could fall in the places that see the most.
Light to moderate snow showers continue to push into Garrett, western Grant, western Pendleton, and western Highland counties this afternoon with heavier snow tonight. Snow totals of 6-12" are expected with wind gusts between 30-50 mph. Hazardous travel likely. #MDwx #VAwx #WVwx pic.twitter.com/SgMFPm4tji
