Brits are set to sink 40 million pints tonight, nicknamed 'Mad Friday', as the country celebrates the countdown to the big day.

Ambulance services are today gearing up for their biggest night of the year as drunken revellers are expected to start brawls and pass out.
Some 25 million pints will be drunk in pubs, with 15 million more at home, according to the British Beer and Pub Association.
And, during the entire week, Brits are expected to down 150 million pints in total.

Susan Taylor, head of policy at alcohol harm campaign group Balance, said: “Paramedics, police and A&E are flat out with winter pressures and will have to deal with the inevitable impact of people drinking up to a couple of weeks’ worth of alcohol in one night."
It will be the "first proper Christmas since 2019", according to pub group Fuller's chief executive Simon Emeny.
