Nigel Farage quizzed over his future plans

       Nigel Farage would give Reform UK a boost at the next general election if he became leader, according to readers in an Express poll.

       Some 84 per cent of respondents to a survey on this website said Reform UK, formerly the Brexit Party, would stand a chance at the ballot expected next year if Mr Farage is at the helm.

       Just 14 per cent said no and two per cent did not know.

       More than 16,000 readers had voted in the poll as of 9am today.

       Our survey comes as Reform UK is set to make a major announcement on Wednesday.

       There is speculation that the press conference could be used to reveal a comeback by Mr Farage, who is currently the party's honorary president.

       Reform UK leader Richard Tice refused to rule out a return by the GB News presenter.

       When asked, the businessman said: "Patience is a virtue."

       There has been intense speculation over whether Mr Farage will make a fresh political bid after he came third on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here.

       Speaking shortly after his stint in the Australian jungle, he told ITV's Good Morning Britain: "Rishi is a lame duck walking, the Conservative Party is headed for total defeat.

       "As to whether I have a future in politics, I have no idea at this moment in time. But what I would say is never say never.

       "And our country needs actually people at the top with some firm guidance as to where we're going to go in the future.

       "At the moment, we are rudderless and I don't see a Labour Party with the strength to get us out of this mess."

       There have also been suggestions Mr Farage could rejoin the Conservative Party after quitting in 1992 over the signing of an EU treaty.

       But he has dismissed the prospect of a return to the Tories while Rishi Sunak is leader.
