SEREMBAN: A company director involved in organising tours and haj pilgrimage trips pleaded guilty to four charges of failing to comply with two Consumer Claims Tribunal awards involving RM41,920.
Mohd Firdaus Ahmad of Syarikat Persada Oasis Travel and Tours did not contest the charges after they were read to him before magistrate Nor Hafiza Ishak at the Magistrate’s Court here.
The 38-year-old, who represented the company, was charged with failing to comply with the order to pay RM14,040 and RM27,880, respectively, to two people in their 50s, within 14 days from the date the awards were granted on June 27, last year.
As the director of the company, he was slapped with two other similar charges.
The offences were committed at the company’s premises in Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor, on July 26, 2023.
Both were charged under Section 117 (1) of the Consumer Protection Act 1999, which carries a fine of up to RM10,000, a maximum of two years in jail, or both upon conviction.
Khairul Azman Rosli from the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry prosecuted while Mohd Firdaus was unrepresented.
