Students across the North Shore will get to enjoy a four day weekend after classes were canceled Friday, Jan. 12 as Winter Storm Gerri brings snow and icy temperatures.

       New Trier High School, Wilmette School District 39, Avoca School District 37 and Glencoe School District 35 all canceled classes citing the weather. Winnetka’s North Country Day School, Sacred Heart School, and Faith, Hope and Charity School are also closed for the weather.

       All Evanston schools across Districts 202 and 65 held e-learning days where students completed classwork from home. Loyola Academy in Wilmette also hosted an e-learning day.

       National Weather Service meteorologist David King said anywhere from 1 to 2 inches could fall an hour with conditions lasting through Saturday afternoon.
