A MUM has been charged with killing her four-month-old baby after the tragic tot died in hospital.

       The horror unfolded in Newent, Forest of Dean, on April 12, 2020, when Lexi Savannah Wilband fell "significantly unwell".

       The pair will appear at Gloucester Magistrates Court

       The baby girl was taken to hospital but sadly couldn't be saved and died six days later.

       Melissa Wilband, 27, and Jack Wheeler, 30, have now been charged with manslaughter and causing or allowing the death of a child.

       The pair are due to appear at Gloucestershire Magistrates' Court in Cheltenham tomorrow.

       Wheeler, from Ledbury, and Wilband, from Newent, have been released on conditional bail.

       A force spokesman said: "Gloucestershire Police's major crime investigation team led on the investigation and the Crown Prosecution Service authorised charges."
