Sadiq Khan splurged taxpayer cash to find out colour of Met Police officers' personalities

Sadiq Khan grilled on knife crime in London

Sadiq Khan blew millions of pounds of taxpayers' money on vanity projects and bizarre woke schemes from finding out the colour of police officers' personalities to holding raves and beach parties, a new report has revealed.

It comes just weeks after the London Mayor was accused of "haemorrhaging money" by handing the RMT Union £30million to prevent strikes from going ahead.

Mr Khan’s waste is said to have hit more than £65million in the last four years with serious questions being asked about his priorities ahead of this year's London Mayoral election.

The dossier put together by the Conservatives in London has provided a detailed breakdown of the Mayor of London, Khan, spending millions on "projects that promote the mayor" in the past four years.

It revealed massive expenditure on staffing costs, including in the mayor's own press office, as well as a raft of controversial projects.

One shocking entry on the spending list was £10million on a package which included a test to work out the "colour of Metropolitan Police Officers' personalities."

While London was suffering a surge in crime across the city, with murders under Khan's leadership recently passing 1,000, he demanded that more than 10,000 Met police officers and staff undergo a five-day training course to identify their personality types.

Beach parties were also a major feature in the dossier, including an event in 2018, hosted in the expensive Royal Docks area of Newham.

It saw the Mayor, Sadiq Khan, splashing out £462,000 on a rave while at the same time, there was a surge in violent knife crime in the same borough.

A second party took place later, featuring a "larger swimming pool" the dossier revealed, costing a further £300,000, bringing the total bill to just under £1million.

Emma Best, the Conservative Assembly Member who authored the report, said: “Sadiq Khan continues to waste millions of pounds of taxpayers’ money.

“While Londoners struggle with the cost of living, Khan wastes millions on spin doctors, marketing, and pointless initiatives.

“With the Mayor set to hike his share of council tax by 8.6% from April, Londoners can’t afford another four more years of Sadiq Khan.”

Her report also revealed how Khan loves to promote himself with a 33 percent rise in the Budget for his communication staff over four years bringing it to £977,912 on the team, and a further £10 million on a "promotional spending pot."

Another £240,000 was coughed up on a quiz, which was dismissed as more "propaganda" by the City Hall Conservatives.

The controversy also extends to events organised under the Borough of Culture program, with £70,000 spent on a drag act titled "Duckie Loves Fanny."

Notably, the Mayor's Night Czar, Amy Lamé, who hosted the event, failed to declare her £1,000 earnings for the night on her register of interests, despite being paid over £100,000 for her part-time role.

Also in the dossier is a controversial partnership with a "vaginal moisturizer company" which has also sparked criticism.

In 2021, the company was awarded £500,000 free advertising slot across the Transport for London (TfL) network as part of a diversity prize to promote their product.

A spokesman for the Mayor of London said: “As Mayor, Sadiq is focused on delivering on the issues that matter most to Londoners.

"This includes supporting families through the cost-of-living crisis with free school meals for all state primary school children, building a record number of council homes, being tough on crime and tough on the causes of crime – with violent crimes such as homicide and gun crime lower than in 2016, making public transport more affordable for millions of Londoners, and taking world-leading action to tackle the climate crisis and air pollution.

“He’s also standing up for London against a government that’s refusing to properly fund our vital public services, with Sadiq having to step in to ensure the police, the London Fire Brigade and public transport network have the investment they need as we continue building a safer, fairer and greener London for everyone.”
