TRIPOLI, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Libya's state-owned National Oil Corporation (NOC) revealed on Friday that the country had produced more than 432 million barrels of crude oil in 2023.
NOC said that the country had produced nearly 1.24 billion cubic meters of natural gas, nearly 2.43 million tonnes of condensates, nearly 6.17 million tonnes of petroleum products, and 682,595 tonnes of petrochemical products last year.
Oil and gas are major sources of Libya's revenue. However, armed conflicts and the closure of oil fields and ports have hurt the industries in recent years.
On Jan. 7, NOC declared a state of force majeure in the country's largest oilfield Sharara, a few days after it was shut down by protestors.
