PUTRAJAYA: A company owner and two employees of a statutory body have been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Wednesday (Jan 17) to assist in the investigation into a corruption case involving projects under the entrepreneurship programme.

According to a source, the three men, in their 30s and 40s, were arrested when they appeared to give statements at the MACC headquarters here between 8.35pm and 10.30pm.

"The owner of the company is believed to have given RM4,000 to two individuals who serve in a statutory body, to obtain several projects under the entrepreneurship programme from 2020 to 2023," the source said.

The owner of the company has now been remanded for three days, starting today until Saturday (Jan 20), after Magistrate, Puan Irza Zulaikha Rohanuddin, allowed the MACC application filed at the Putrajaya Magistrate's Court here on Thursday (Jan 18).

The other two individuals were released on MACC bail after their statements were recorded.

MACC Intelligence Division deputy director, Galan Ngadit, when contacted, confirmed the arrest of the three men, and said that the case was being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009. – Bernama
