PETALING JAYA: Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah's reign as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong was fair and wise, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

       In a Facebook post on Saturday (Jan 20), the MCA president also expressed his gratitude to Al-Sultan Abdullah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah for extending permission for Dr Wee and his wife to attend the Royal Tea Reception at Istana Negara earlier Saturday.

       "I wish to humbly express my deepest gratitude to His Majesty for his highly commendable, fair, wise and highly-praised reign since he was crowned the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on July 30, 2019," Dr Wee said in his Facebook post.

       The Ayer Hitam MP ended his post with "Daulat Tuanku!"

       Earlier, Al-Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah had graced the royal tea reception at Istana Negara here Saturday (Jan 20) ahead of the completion of His Majesty's reign as head of state.

       The event began at 3 pm and was attended by 2,500 guests, including Cabinet ministers, MPs and heads of foreign missions.

       Among the distinguished guests present were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail; Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil and Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul.
