Cameron Highlands landslide: Body of first victim recovered, area still unsafe

       CAMERON HIGHLANDS: The body of one of the victims buried alive following a landslide at Blue Valley here on Friday (Jan 26) was brought out from the vegetable farm at 11.05am.

       Pahang Fire and Rescue Department deputy director (operations) Ismail Abdul Ghani said the body of the man, a Myanmar national, was the first one found in the search operation.

       He said the body has been handed over to the police for further action.

       “The search and rescue operation is ongoing.

       “The condition of the area is not safe at the moment, and for now, media personnel are not allowed at the incident site,” he said.

       Earlier, Ismail had said that the department received a distress call at 2.51am.

       He said one man had died while four others were feared to have been buried alive following the landslide early Friday morning at Batu 54, Blue Valley, Cameron Highlands.
