Nicola Sturgeon is no longer trusted by Scottish voters, a bombshell new poll has revealed.
Nearly a year after Ms Sturgeon resigned as first minister of Scotland, new figures show her popularity has plummeted in a country she led for over 3,000 days.
New figures published by the Sunday Times show her net trust rating is minus 19, down from a pandemic peak of plus 18 in February 2021. 24 percent of SNP voters also say they also don’t trust Ms Sturgeon.
What’s more, as confidence in Ms Sturgeon has fallen so too has confidence in the SNP, causing it to fall further behind Labour ahead of this year’s general election. The poll sees Labour up three points to 36 percent compared to the SNP’s 33 percent.

Sturgeon: Now is the time for Scottish independence

It is believed that if these figures were repeated in the general election, it would be a huge vote of confidence for Sir Keir Starmer and could help propel him to Downing Street.

Following the result, Professor Sir John Curtice confirmed more pro-independence voters were switching from the SNP to Labour.
He explained: “Whereas at the end of 2022…80 percent of current yes supporters were saying that they would vote SNP…now that figure has fallen to a new low of just 63 percent.”
Professor Curtice said there were two key hurdles the SNP needed to overcome if they wanted to regain some popularity. One of these problems is the unpopularity of the current leader Humza Yousaf.
Professor Curtice revealed that around one in four people who voted for the SNP during the last general election in December 2019 thought he was currently doing a bad job.

Following the SNP's decline and Labour’s rise, there has been speculation ahead of a potential general election later this year, of what relations between the two could look like if the SNP regains popularity.
Earlier this month, Mr Yousaf invited Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer to Scotland to meet. In a letter he wrote: “I hope you will accept this invitation to meet and that we can establish a working relationship in the interests of the people we represent.”
The news of the potential meeting has outraged some Scottish Conservatives who believe Mr Yousaf’s main plan is to try and hold another independence referendum.
Speaking to Express.co.uk, chairman of the Scottish Conservatives Craig Hoy claimed: “This latest overture from the SNP confirms what most Scottish voters already know: Humza Yousaf's only focus is another independence referendum and he believes Keir Starmer is weak on the issue.”

Mr Hoy added: “In swathes of seats across Scotland, only a vote for the Scottish Conservatives will defeat the SNP and end their plans for another independence referendum.”

In an interview with the BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg, Mr Yousaf doubled down on his desire to work with Sir Keir. He said: “I'd like to speak to Keir Starmer as the man who will undoubtedly be the next prime minister. SNP MPs will work with you.
“When it comes to Keir Starmer being the next prime minister of the United Kingdom, which I think he absolutely will be, I should say I'm very willing to work with an incoming Labour government.
"I think there's plenty that we can work on. There will be disagreements - the constitution perhaps being the obvious one.”
