ALOR SETAR: Firm action will be taken against those seen in a viral video which shows a tourist allegedly paying a policeman a bribe to avoid being summoned.

       Langkawi district police chief ACP Shariman Ashari said they would take firm action against all those involved.

       "We have been alerted to a viral video where a tourist in Langkawi was stopped by policemen for not wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle. He allegedly paid RM100 to avoid a summons.

       "We are gathering information about the incident. The video was uploaded on YouTube on Nov 10, 2023," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Jan 30).

       ACP Shariman urged any party with information on the incident to come forward to help the investigation.
