PETALING JAYA: MCA will be hosting its Lunar Chinese New Year Open House on Feb 10 at 9.30am at Dewan San Choon, Wisma MCA at Jalan Ampang with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim gracing the occasion.

       "We are inviting people from all walks of life to join us in celebrating this joyous occasion as if it is the most important traditional festival of the Chinese community," said MCA secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon in a statement on Friday (Feb 2).

       "During this festive season, we hope that this open house event will allow people from all races to partake and share in the joy of the festivities, promote understanding and dialogues between different ethnic groups and altogether create a more harmonious, inclusive society.

       "MCA wishes that in the new year, our citizens will be able to live in peace and contentment and for the country to be blessed with favourable climates, bountiful harvests, political stability and economic prosperity.

       Chong said other distinguished guests expected to attend include leaders of Barisan Nasional, component parties, government leaders, MCA veterans, business leaders, Chinese community leaders and foreign diplomats.

       The open house, said Chong, would feature a variety of activities, including lion dance, dragon dance, street art and traditional dances on stage.
