KUALA LUMPUR: DAP's Tony Pua gave his full cooperation to investigators after being summoned to Bukit Aman on Monday (Feb 5).

He was called up by police in connection with recent comments on the sentence reduction for former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Phua, who arrived outside the Federal Police headquarters at about 12.50pm, entered the Bukit Aman premises at 1.13pm.

He was seen leaving Bukit Aman with his lawyer Haijan Omar at about 2.30pm.

"I was asked to give a statement pertaining to a sedition investigation in connection with five Facebook posts that I made.

"I gave full cooperation to the police," he told reporters outside Bukit Aman.

Phua said he could not think of any seditious elements regarding his Facebook posts.

"We hope the police will conduct a thorough and prompt investigation.

"I will hand over my laptop to the police later as I used it to upload the Facebook posts and I will also hand over access to my Facebook account," he said.

Asked whether he will be called up again by the police, Phua said it was up to the police.

Previously, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain had said that investigations were launched after the former Damansara MP comments that were uploaded on his Facebook page had allegedly insulted the royal institution.

He said that Pua's comments had “elements of inciting the public to hate and insult the royal institutions”, in particular the rights of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong enshrined under Article 42 of the Federal Constitution.

Investigations are being conducted by the Special Investigation Unit (USJT).
