Nigel Farage has called new Labour MP Damien Egan (Image: GBNews)
Nigel Farage has slammed a new Labour MP as “dull” when he gave his first interview after winning a crucial by-election. Damien Egan was on GB News to discuss his victory in Kingswood, Gloucestershire, where he overturned a Tory majority of 11,220.
He said that Labour had won the election off “its own back” rather than factors such as Reform UK taking votes from the Tories.
Mr Egan said: “When we talked to people, we talked about the issues that were being raised. The top ones were the NHS, the cost of living and policing, certainly other issues too were coming up.
“I like to think that we won the election on our own back by working hard and getting the message out there to the voters of Kingswood.”

But Mr Farage was not impressed, saying the new MP gave the “dullest interview”.
He said: “I have no doubt you’re blown away by the charisma of the new MP. That was the dullest interview.
“He has just won a bloody by-election, he should be celebrating. I fell asleep during it!”
Mr Farage added that politics has “suffered” in recent decades, with the quality of candidates running for seats lessening.
He said: “People are going into it without real life experiences. It has got boring, dull, people have no personality and they’re scared of criticism on social media.

“I’m sure Egan is a lovely chap, but that wasn’t exactly inspiring.”
The former Brexit Party later offered a snap verdict on this morning's by-election results.
Mr Farage spoke out on X following a torrid night for the Tory Party.
He said: "Reform were outgunned by bigger party machines in these by-elections, yet still exceeded national opinion polls. Tonightm Reform UK came of age."
Mr Egan used his victory speech to thank voters, saying: “Thank you for giving me your trust and for allowing me to serve the community I’m from.

“It’s a trust that I promise to repay, to show that politics can be different and can make a difference.”
He added: “Fourteen years of Conservative Government have sucked the hope out of our country.
"There’s a feeling that no matter how hard you work, you just can’t move forward, and with Rishi’s recession we are left once again paying more and getting less.”
