President Joe Biden and former president Donald Trump exchanged criticisms at their competing rallies in Georgia on Saturday, just days before the state is slated to hold its presidential primary.

Fresh off a fiery State of the Union address, Mr Biden spoke to supporters in Atlanta and directly addressed criticisms to Mr Trump.

“When he says he wants to be a dictator, I believe him,” the president said, criticising Mr Trump for recently hosting the leader of Hungary, Viktor Orban, at his golf club.

Miles away in Rome, Georgia, Mr Trump took the stage with his close ally Marjorie Taylor Greene. In typical fashion, Mr Trump insulted Mr Biden – at one point, mocking his stutter.

Georgia will be a battleground state in November for the two expected Democratic Party and Republican Party nominees, Mr Biden won the state by a slim margin in 2020, the first Democratic presidential candidate to win the state since Bill Clinton in 1992.

Georgia will hold its primary on Tuesday.
